The Butre river trip is one of our most appreciated activities. It's a trip canoes hand-made by the locals from the fishing village of Butre. We paddle upstream the Butre River. Chances are you get to see monkeys, crocodiles, different kinds of crayfish and a variety of birds. There’s a unique mangrove- trees forest surrounding the river with a wildlife that is beautiful. There’re giant rainforest- trees reaching for the sky, they haven’t been cut because of the spirit they have given to the river people.

African drumsession at the beach. If you’re staying in Ghana, the drumming country, you just can't miss the feeling of sitting on the beach at night-time and drum. It's something special to hear the waves in the background as your accompanion.  It doesn't matter if you're good or not - everyone is welcome to join the "drummingjam" around the bonfire late at night.

When you staying with us, take the opportunity to visit the old slave-trading post Fort Batenstein. It's located on the high hill in the back of the nearby village Butre. The view is stunning. The Hideout lodge is a part of the Sea turtle protection of the Western Region,With a particular focus on the variety of threatened turtle species that appear along the Ghanian coast. We patrol breeding areas keeping village dogs away from nests, and also have a collabration with the local people from the nearby fishing village of Butre to prevent it from being killed and eaten. We get reports when when sea turtles arrives on the beach and then arrange moon light turtles walk.
